It was a totally useful seminar, well organised and run by informed and supportive people.
The coldness of the water, the fact it was so hard to see underwater compared with a pool, and so hard to swim in a straight line, were all things I think will be invaluable for my first triathlon this Sunday.
I signed up for the intermediate group, as I swim 1000 meters in training (I need to do 400m for the Sprint), and have swum in a sea before many times so am not unfamiliar with swimming outside. But in fact a) I have been training alone and so plodding along with my distances rather than time, and b) the seminar was not for triathletes as I thought, but for several people who are only doing open water swims, or duathlons, and therefore very experienced swimmers.
I learnt a lot, and feel much much better prepared.
