Don’t worry, it’s not even more reality TV featuring Lord Sugar – rather this post is announce a pilot coach apprenticeship program featuring Ashleigh Ahlquist.
Ashleigh comes from a health and fitness background and is currently working towards her Level 3 British Triathlon Federation coaching qualification. Her area of expertise is swim coaching and video analysis, and she is always keen to show triathletes the importance of strength training for power and speed! She also has experience in the organisational side of triathlon, and has organised and worked at a number of triathlon related events, notably combining her qualification for this year’s Worlds in NZ with volunteering to assist the paratriathletes.
Liz Scott of thetrilife.com explains, “Ashleigh showed initiative and maturity by contacting us and proposing an apprenticeship; we always look for the win-win in any business relationship, and this felt like exactly that…”
The apprenticeship is a two year program which will offer exposure to all areas of the business including new business planning, administration, coaching theory, practical coaching experience, performance analysis and testing, sports psychology and marketing via social media. Ashleigh will be given a number of responsibilities within the business and will be supported to develop her skills throughout.
Ashleigh said ‘This is a fantastic opportunity. I believe the best way to learn about coaching is to learn from skilled coaches in real-life situations. I can’t wait to work with thetrilife.com coaches and team and to put my learning into practice. I’m also really excited to learn more about the behind the scenes and how thetrilife.com organise their preparation and training events.’
Ashleigh will be writing about her experiences as an apprentice with thetrilife.com – look out for Ashleigh’s weekly updates on our blog and on our Facebook page.
