As part of this apprenticeship I will be posting a monthly blog with information about the events and training days that I will be organising, as well as coaching experience and practical tips that I pick up along the way. I hope this turns out to be informative and enjoyable, please let me know if there is anything I should expand on.
So what have I been up to in January?
Not much. I did have a session booked last week to see how thetrilife endless pool swim techniques sessions are run but unfortunately it had to be postponed because of the snow.
I’ve had a number of meetings to start finalising ideas for the apprentice programme, and I now know which events I’ll be helping to organise – like the Hever Castle training day and the kids camp – and which ones I will be coaching at – the TCR show and Belvoir Castle – as well as my weekly tasks. I will be posting a monthly swimming drill for you all to practice/focus on each month (did you read January’s?). It is all too exciting to announce everything properly now!
This weekend is thetrilife squad weekend which sounds like great fun; it’s a good chance for the coaches and athletes to catch up and do some training together and it sounds like there will be some good theory sessions. Unfortunately I won’t be able to attend because I’ll be starting my British Triathlon Level 3 Coaching course, wish me luck!
Keep up to date by checking out thetrilife blog and Facebook page, and you can also follow me on twitter if you want – @AAAAhlquist
Enjoy your weekend! It may have to be a turbo one….
