Race week is finally here – are you wondering what you should do in terms of training? Here are some simple steps to take this week to ensure that you arrive at the start line in the best possible condition:
1. Reduce the volume by 50% but keep the number of sessions you do the same as normal. Include bursts of race pace effort in one session of each discipline with plenty of recovery in between.
2. Finish each session feeling that you would like to do more!
3. Remain hydrated and eat normally – no need for any carbohydrate loading.
4. Sleep is a weapon! Get a good nights sleep two nights before your race so that if you are kept awake with a few nerves the night before it will not matter.
5. Visualise your race from swim start through each transition through to finishing over the finish line!
Good luck from thetrilife.com coaching team.
