Dear Liz,
I just wanted to say thank you to you and the team for the training programme that I have followed all the way through the last 9 months – almost to the letter! Apart from adding in a half Ironman one weekend I have stuck to the programme and really enjoyed seeing various aspects of my fitness and endurance improve over the months.
My aim was to finish in a faster time than I completed the Outlaw in last year, despite it being a harder course – and I did – crossing the line in 12hrs 20. I could have knocked a fair bit of time off by making faster transitions but I decided that I wanted to get dry, and have a change of kit between each discipline so that I was comfortable! I was delighted with my swim split (1:07) which was a PB for me, despite being in the sea. I finished 5th in my age group and was the 20th female overall.
I hang up my ironman shoes after this one and am going to concentrate more on 70.3 races, but I just wanted to say thank you for your good luck wishes and for coming up with a programme which has left me totally unscathed and back at work on Monday morning at 8am!
Best wishes, D D
