How are you feeling about any forthcoming triathlon events you have on your schedule and the training you are putting in? It can be difficult to accurately assess your own progress. Some people over-estimate, some over-train and others suffer from an acute case of paralysis by analysis! The coaches at thetrilife.com are here to help, whether you’re training for your very first UK sprint triathlon or hoping to qualify for Kona. We’ve put together everything from beginners’ running programmes to long distance training programmes for highly experienced athletes.
Rich Jones is one of thetrilife’s premier coaches. He is a highly experienced triathlete and coach and has raced pro at both Olympic and Long Distance, winning a number Home Nations Triathlon and Duathlon Titles, including British Elite Championship events at Sprint, Half Ironman and Ironman distances.
Rich has won and set course records around the world including beating a world class field at Half IRONMAN UK Llanberis, which led him to be the first Welsh pro/Elite athlete to qualify for the IRONMAN Worlds Championships. He then went on to be the first Brit at IRONMAN Hawaii 2003 (all achieved whilst holding down a full time job).
Rich has transferred his passion, practical knowledge and experience of triathlon to Performance coaching. Over the last 8 years Richard has developed his own coaching skills, achieving BTA Level 3 coach status, becoming a Welsh Performance Coach and continuing to develop himself through his own self-funded CPD. Rich coaches all abilities of athletes from those entering their first triathlon to Performance elite athletes at all distances with a strong focus on long course.
Rich has trained with some of the best triathletes around the world along with world class coaches. He has transferred his coaching knowledge to his aspirational athletes to achieve some of the following results – European Olympic champions, World long course medalists, IM podium finishers, Hawaii IM qualifiers and pro podium finishers, winners of numerous UK domestic triathlon events, national swimming masters’ champions.
Rich is passionate about helping all athletes succeed in what they want to achieve.
But what are the benefits of working with a coach?
Accountability is key. A triathlon coach gives you someone to check in with on a regular basis, helping you stay focused and on track. You will constantly be guided with advice from a professional, and the guidance you are given will be relevant to you and the level you are training at. Your coach will plan in your progression, so you are training at the optimum level, rather than doing too much or too little. With a professional triathlon coach on your side, you can be completely sure that your triathlon training programme, racing schedule, meal plans and recovery are planned to perfection. A coach’s input takes the guesswork out of everything. Richard will ensure that you get the best return of invested time from your training program.
Triathlon coaching isn’t the expensive luxury that some people think it is. There are lots of options, including email and online coaching. One thing’s always the same – the support, guidance and information you’ll get.
Why not try coaching and see just how far you can progress?
