I am a water baby having swam to national level, that migrated to land and triathlon when I lived in Dubai. A friend Bruce who was a good triathlete brought the sport to life in the mid 90’s in the land of the sand and I loved my first event in the sun till I had to start running! Haha…. nothing has changed on that one!
My working and leisure time contains doing triathlons, coaching at my local club in Nottingham and working in it for many brands or events and my voluntary roles for organisations such as the Triathlon Industry Association enables me to hopefully make a difference to the sport commercially. It makes me tired at the thought of it… but its a great sport to be involved in and enables me to do a sport I’ve always loved (swimming) and the challenge of trying to become a better runner!
I’ve found that 70.3 and Olympic events work for me and did my first 70.3 in Sherbourne at IronmanUK too many years ago being chased by Spencer Smith – yeah right. Since then I have done Galway, Zell am See and Majorca, this year I have challenged myself to do Barcelona in May.
In 2016 I want to do myself proud and enjoy many beers after the race with a good friend Ian who will being doing his first 70.3.
