When I first signed on to thetrilife Masters programme I had made the decision that this year was about me, life had been very hectic and I’d put myself on the back burner.
I started off with the 9 sessions a week programme and was so happy to be back pounding it out. The first few weeks I hit the target of 9 sessions then it alternated between a great week of doing all the sessions to a week of not getting it all in, and then the not getting it all in weeks started to out number the good weeks as life and its busy self crept back taking over.
I was so disappointed, I was on the verge of dropping out of the programme completely but then with Liz’s guidance we switched me to the 6 session a week programme and what a difference it made to me mentally! Clearly a more realistic target for myself, I was freed from the guilt of missing sessions as I was happily getting them in. The workouts themselves even felt more fun, although the intensity has upped through this phase of the programme, I am so happy that I didn’t give up on it.
An old injury has started to niggle so the runs are having to be done somewhat modified but I am ok with that as at least I am still going!
Race plans have changed, training plan has changed, but I’m still back to doing the sport I love, thank you thetrilife for getting me on track and keeping me there!
The picture this month is me and my four legged running partner out on a training run in the lovely sunshine.
