Melanie Berry – #thetrilifereporter – Month 6
Challenges are good is what I tell myself?? This season I once again conquered my annual 70.3, nailed another L’Etape du tour in the hills of Morzine and Megeve. So what is next… “Operation Robin” which is me running the Robin Hood half marathon at the end of September in a time that I feel is respectable for me! But like many of us in this endurance game I am combining it with doing the bike leg of The Vitruvian and carry on with my fundraising jaunts for Macmillan.
The latest Macmillan challenge with my good friends from Boots who I have done Kilimanjaro and Machu Picchu with, was the Moonlight hike up Ben Nevis. This basically meant leaving at 11pm and walking up Scotland’s highest mountain in the driving wind and rain from about two hours in! Sleep deprivation is a hard one for me as I am sure it is for everyone?? But it was a good night and more money raised for a great charity.
Operation Robin updates – lots of running and saying to myself “I love running” one day I will believe that I am sure. Liz has been great with a plan I am sticking religiously to, so religiously that I did my 7 mile run the morning of Ben Nevis. I was surprisingly tired the day after haha….. But it feels like it is working and with only six weeks to go I know I have been consistent and structured thanks to thetrilife. Stay tuned to my running tales as this is the next part of the 2016 puzzle.. maybe I need to do a swimming event after this in an amazing sunny location, anyone fancy it?
